Forum for Ethics,
Accountability and Transparency - FEAT
The FEAT Confluence is an initiative of FMSF to bring
together the Auditors from
India,
Nepal
and Bangladesh
who are providing professional services to the Development Sector -NGOs, NPOs or
NGDOs. The Confluence is aimed at discussing and understanding the challenges
in the sector vis-à-vis the role of an auditor. It is also aimed to build a
consensus and common understanding amongst the participating auditors on the key
issues related to the sector and to do lobby and advocacy with various financial
and legal policy making bodies to evolve appropriate policies relating to
accounting, reporting and audit aspects of the voluntary sector. The forum also
facilitates the participants to discuss the challenges faced by them during the
performance of their duties as an auditor.
The first national FEAT Consultation was held in Goa
in 2001. Following the first consultation there were two more consultations in Goa and Jaipur. There were also a
couple of regional & other consultations in the ensuing period.
The second and follow up consultation was held in 2002, to carry forward the
discussion from the previous one and also take up issues like ethics,
accountability and transparency in the field of Financial Management and to
formally establish the forum of consultants. In this consultation there was also
representation from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
FEAT had its third consultation in 2009 at
Chandigarh.
